My main goal as an artist is to enlighten and uplift the viewer. I still believe in the traditional values art can instill in people. I hope to portray warmth, beauty and joy, and all the good things about this life, in my artwork. I like my pieces to remind us of memories past, or things to look forward to in our future. Portraits, pets and wildlife are favorite subjects.

Through my artwork, I hope to share the sense of peace and the awe that comes to me in the great wide open. The vibrant colors of Alkyd & Oilbar express my deep emotional connection to the expansiveness, solitude and understated beauty of the Intermountain West. Digital photography allows me to express the magic I feel in the western landscape.

My work, primarily landscapes in oil, could be termed modernest or colorist in its representations of plein air landscapes that are both colorful and painterly. Usage of both palette knife and impasto brushwork lends itself to impressionistic takes with a modern twist. The work is lively and invites the viewer to participate in its bold expression evoking an emotional response to the beauty and ecological diversity of the land.

Each piece I create has its own Emotion! Own Personality! Own Existence! Yet everyone viewing a piece sees something else. So I hope you become comfortable with at least one piece. Enjoy!
