I paint because I don't know how not to paint, and when I paint my brush dances across the canvas. I love the animals and the land and I love having the gift to express my love. My inspiration comes from observation and sketches of wildlife, mostly on camping trips spent in Yellowstone National Park and trips to Alaska. To me, the animals are the epitome of spirituality, in the moment and free, which is probably why my paintings are so much fun to paint-I am in the moment and free when I paint them. It is pure bliss to be an artist.

Children, pets and the Rocky Mountains are favorite subjects for Deborah's work. The studio is always open and there is usually a brown bunny at the foot of the easel with a Black Cat and Golden Retriever looking through the window to give a critique. I enjoy painting landscapes primarily of old forgotten barns and landmarks, that are soon disappearing because of the diminishing farms and ranches in the West. Sometime paint as they presently appear and sometimes as they might have been when new.

I enjoy experimenting with lots of color and media. I have a series of whimsical buildings. I also do portraits of people. Sharon has been painting the scenic beauty of Alaska, Idaho and Montana for over thirty years. Her view of both the "Great Land" and the "Big Sky Country" is the central theme of most of her art work. Her subjects are recognizable places, from the Rocky Mountains, streams and ranches of Idaho and Montana to Alaska's wind-blown Arctic coastal plains and her dark Southeastern rain forests.

Marilyn Bowles was named 2007 North Region winner in the "Idaho Paints Idaho" competition. One of her paintings won the Jack Richeson prize. Last year two of Marilyn's paintings were included in the 50 entries shown, one given the Winsor Newton award and one was sold. In September 2007, Marilyn's pastel painting received an Honorable Mention award at the Member's Exhibit in the Northwest Pastel Society show in Anacortes, WA.

Jeriann Sabin paints high quality watercolors and creates inventive book arts. Her husband, Ralph Thurston, writes creative nonfiction. His recent work "No Sage: Essays from the Margin" was a finalist for the 2002 Idaho Book Award.

One of the most basic gifts of life is the ability to create, to celebrate life and love and the joy of everyday. Through oil painting, I strive to see the world as it exists, as an experience, a real-life encounter. As my subjects, I often choose simple everyday subjects in which I find something of the sublime that had previously gone unnoticed.
